Reflective Moment
The symmetrically framed railroad bridge with its two towers spans across a calm Cape Cod Canal in Bourne MA during a mystical sunset. The sky is painted in hues of orange, gray and blue, creating a serene backdrop for this landmark railroad bridge.
CALM
The peaceful sea displays a reflective calm at the end of the day on Cape Cod.
Connected to the Sea
A serene coastal landscape is captured during the golden hours of sunset, with a small, overturned dinghy resting on the grassy shore on a still salt marsh in Sandwich, MA on Cape Cod. In the background, the tranquil water of Cape Cod Bay reflects the soft colors of the sky, and the overall mood is peaceful and solitary.
Attitude Adjustment
Many people state that once they pass over the canal and onto the Cape, all their life’s stresses and anxieties disappear. The Cape Cod Canal and it’s bridges are great symbols of the Cape. The Canal is a focal point for everyone to try their luck at fishing or to run, walk or cycle on it's service roads.
At rare times of the year, the sun’s angle lights up the gray steel of the bridges and turns them to a very bright silver highlight. The 6+ minute long-exposure smoothed out the canal water and eliminated all the traditional canal distractions - but kept those silver steel highlights.
The Boat House - West Falmouth - Cape Cod
Both dusk and fog begin to settle in at West Falmouth Harbor and it's famous Boat House. This early evening also presents a stillness in the harbor water offering perfect reflections of the boat house and the row of trees that have all grown up with a slight tilt from years of steady winds. The winter is one of the few times when anchored boats don't block the view of the beauty of the Boat House, trees and their reflection.

An incredible "off-season" sunset at Nauset Beach in Orleans, MA and no-one is on the beach. The solitude of the "off season" gives one a deeper appreciation on the specialness of this Cape Cod coastal area. As one views the vastness in both the ocean and the sky, it makes you feel like a tiny speck on the shore - but appreciative of being there.

The foam, bubbles and receding tide melting into a sunset mirrors saltwater hand in the distant shore reclaiming itself with the onslaught of the cresting waves threatening to wash it away. It makes you want to just sit and watch the surf surge and recede over the expansive beach.

Sound of Silence
An absolute quiet and peaceful moment at sunrise on the Cape Cod coastline, overlooking the distant entrance to West Falmouth Harbor. Most of us have experienced a moment where we have been stunned by the lack of any sound. A moment we always remember.
There is a light fog on the horizon as the clouds above the fog turn pink from the rising sun, which casts a pink reflective glow on the still water, creating an "obmre effect" to the entire image.

Nobska Point
Sitting high over Vineyard Sound, Nobska Light projects its guiding light over to Martha's Vineyard and beyond. Nobska has become a coastal symbol of the specialness that is found throughout the Cape. This early evening panorama presents the Cape's most famous hill right beside this magnificent lighthouse, known for its breath-taking views while running the course of the Falmouth Road Race.

Spire Ablaze
Few people ever get to study the architecture of the spire on the Cape Cod Railroad Bridge, because they’re usually driving parallel to the bridge. This sunset helped illuminate and add to the unusual beauty of the spire.
CLOUD BREAK
As you travel over the Bourne Bridge to enter Cape Cod, look across and observe the railroad bridge structure that spans the Cape Cod Canal. Most of us never see the beautiful detail of the spire of the Canal Railroad Bridge. This image taken as the cloud inversion loosened its grip on the bridge. Taken from the top of the Bourne Bridge.
NOBSKA - STANDING TALL
From the road, all it takes is a glance up to Nobska's light in the evening, and the comforting signal is transmitted assuring the observer that all is safe and beautiful. From the sea, the combination of Nobska's drop lights, that highlight its body, and the lighthouse flash, every six seconds, guides the mariner to the safe harbor of Woods Hole is equally comforting and mesmerizing.

Horizon Light
The remaining light from the sunset of several minutes earlier sheds a soft glow onto the top of the water of Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod. Meanwhile, the next wave is ready to roll onto shore. One can almost hear the gurgling sound of the receding water of the previous wave.
LIVIN'
Awards - Member Choice of Best January, 2024 Image - Upper Cape Camera Club - Open Category.
As I view this photo, it immediately connects me to the Dierks Bentley song "Living". Surfing the National Seashore on Cape Cod during a killer sunset in December appears to be Living as this surfer's expression presents the absolute symbol of the verse "some days you're living"
Occasionally, we all should let loose and follow our passion and express this type of enjoyment.

Morning Reflection
It was an absolutely calm early morning on Cape Cod with the harbor water perfectly still, which allowed for precise reflections of two sailboats in this private boat sanctuary. The background of this calming image has been slightly blurred in order to create a painterly effect and to add greater depth for the sailboats.

Snug Harbor Sunset
A Snug Harbor sunset is like taking a walk back to the past with the beautiful historic homes bordering the harbor. Enhancing the setting are a mixture of mature trees, grasses and perennial white flowers. And finally, the mixture of small sail and motor boats floating gently on their moorings make for a scene that one will remember all year long.

Skaket - Another World
Featured Image - Fine Art America - Cape and Islands Group
The sunset is from Skaket Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod. This is one on the best locations on the Cape to view a sunset any time of year. Skaket Beach, itself, has very special features that make this location a "must visit" when in Orleans, especially during low tide.

Winter's Pier
All that remains from an elaborate warm-weather harbor scene are the pier pilings, standing straight up and waiting for signs of Spring. Today, with fog on the horizon, there is no telling where the water ends and the sky begins. "Patience" is the word for this scene to change.
Chatham Light
One of the Cape's most recognizable landmarks is the Chatham Light, located on Main Street in Chatham. Its light can be seen for over 25 miles out to sea. First established in 1808, it has gone through several iterations to its current status. It is one of the few lighthouses in America that still operates 24 hours a day - 2 flashes every 10 seconds.
The image is available to purchase in several configurations from wall art to unique gifts. It is also presented as wall art in the Virtual Gallery section of this website.
Vermont Stillness
A tree alone in a snowy field in Stowe Vermont provides a minimal winter feel. The tree was standing next to a rundown red barn in a field located just outside of the downtown area of Stowe Vermont.
Ocean Split - Chatham
Lighthouse Beach in Chatham on Cape Cod is directly across from the Chatham Lighthouse. This beautiful beach is highlighted by rich blue waters that vary in intensity due to the water depth. The line of sand is North Beach Island that was a part of Monomoy before the ocean split the beautiful peninsula in half. This shot is a "camera pan" from left to right that created a softer, more abstract type of image.

Vineyard Sound at The Heights
Featured Image - on the Home Page of Fine Art America - Sunset Group
Take the walk on Grand Avenue at Falmouth Heights Beach on Cape Cod and you will understand why it is called "The Heights". After passing the famous Falmouth Heights "Casino by the Sea", your walk will ascend to present the "grand view" of the ocean. If you take that walk at sunset, you could have a very special experience.

Trusting the Beauty
The setting sun lightens up the clouds and extends its light onto the calm water of Cape Cod. The stairs on the shore lead directly into the water as the extraordinary high tide has infringed on the final few steps that lead to the beach. At the horizon, a Cape lighthouse extends its beam far and wide. Do you dare follow the stairs down into the dark water?

Clearing Skies at The Knob
Sitting at the tip of land where Quissett Harbor meets Buzzards Bay, The Knob in Falmouth offers one of Cape Cod’s most outstanding Buzzards Bay views. Windblown
This day, the famous landmark of Cape Cod, Falmouth and Woods Hole is buffered by very high winds as a hurricane passes through the region. Fortunately, the low tide and wind direction minimized the impact on The Knob.
QUAHOG
It's dawn at Quissett Harbor, located near Woods Hole in Falmouth. The harbor air is warm and thick with the early morning fog. The water is perfectly still allowing for a detailed reflection of the dinghy named "Quahog".

STORM WARNING
A cold mist descents upon a Woods Hole ocean dock as the daylight begins to fade. Calming the water by use of a 5-minute long exposure allows that feeling of peaceful solitude to creep into your soul. Alone, at the ocean's edge in December and not another person in sight - just the sound of the fog horn sending out it's warning. That's a feeling to remember.
Coastal
As the sun begins it's decent into Woods Hole on Cape Cod, the wharf out by Nobska lighthouse is bathed in the soft sunlight providing a beautiful silhouette against the blue sea and golden sky.
A Nobska Light Sunset
1st Place - Upper Cape Camera Club Seasonal Competition
It's quite the challenge to capture the sun setting over the village of Woods Hole as Nobska light broadcasts its steady signal across Martha's Vineyard and out to the horizon. This result represents a total of 20 shots that were blended and stitched together to make this panorama while shooting with a tripod on a dark and narrow road. Ultimately, each viewer of the image is the judge on if the result was worthy of the effort.
NOBSKA

Coastal Beauty
Can you feel the warm breeze on your face and smell the salty air? The coast is a magnet for all of us as it allows our eyes to see all the way to the horizon. It seems that our dreams take the same path when we visit places that feature expansive ocean views, sand dunes, sand bars and a peaceful ocean.

Boardwalk Mist
The marsh of the Sandwich Boardwalk is fully saturated with sea-water from Cape Cod Bay during high tide. This 30 second long exposure image allowed all the various shades for color project through the various depths of the marsh. The goal was to create a simple, minimal image of the boardwalk structure during the high tide period.

Capturing the Calm
This is one of those special experiences that you never forget. You are the only person on the beach after a rain storm and the clouds begin to break to allow the setting sun to light up the sky's opening. The atmosphere is perfectly calm as the stillness of the ocean reflects all the colors that have been created.
